Cheniere Shack

This will be our new "Go-To" Cajun restaurant while in West Monroe! Great service, clean space and super friendly owners. While I was looking at the large and impressive collection of autographed sports memorabilia, the owner introduced himself and we talked at length about the history behind the restaurant, and he and his wife's passion for cooking and entertaining. After our talk he dropped off a large plate of the best boiled shrimp we have had in years! Blackened Chicken Po Boy was perfect and my wife had the Shrimp Sampler, which she could barely finish the shrimp were so big! Great Food, Great Prices!We left with a New York Cheesecake, delicious! A Coconut Cream Pie, and went back the next day for the Lemon Meringue! Super tasty! Had the shrimp poboy, it came with FF amd cup of gumbo. It was amazing!! I wanted to try the lemon meringe pie, but I was way too full!! Also want to elaborate the service was Great!!

I'm not sure it really deserves four stars, maybe three and a half. The gumbo was delicious! That alone was worth the trip. On the flip side, their hot water cornbread was dense and doughy, as if it needed leavening. The fries were lukewarm and unseasoned when they came to the table, and the portion of fish on the sandwich I ordered, meager. After getting an extra, third teeny tiny piece of fried fish added to it, the flavor and balance was great. Friendly waitress, and that made all the difference. I'd go back for Saturday specials again.

Food was good, took a long time to be seated when tables were available

My wife and I stopped at the Cheniere Shack for lunch today. We were in the mood for something different and this happened to be our first experience together at this restaurant. While waiting for our food, we decided to check out the desserts they had prepared at the front counter. Amongst a conversation I was having with my wife, the lady running the cash register (I’m thinking she may be part owner), overheard the two of us talking about today being my birthday. After we were served our meal and given plenty of time to finish eating, the waitress surprised me with a huge chunk of cake and happy birthday written on a plate in chocolate syrup. It is indeed the sweetest jester I had all day. The people are great, the food was outstanding and the time I got to spend with my wife inside this restaurant is priceless. Thank you Cheniere Shack for going above and beyond! You truly have gained a new customer for life.

The food is pretty good, but it's true that the owners are less than kind. They are notoriously rude, but the food really is good. It literally comes up in conversation every time I talk about going to eat there with people. It's a bittersweet relationship. They stay open because it tastes so good and there isn't much competition nearby, but there has been a Hiring sign up near constantly for the last 15 years I've driven past it. As you can tell from their replies to anyone that gave a single star, rather than take the high road to offer their sincere apology and reach out to improve the customer's opinion, the replying person from the Shack simply condemned Google for not taking action against slander. They just don't seem to take constructive criticism very well. Never have. Probably won't like reading this either. It's rather funny. Keep making great fried shrimp and we'll keep putting up with your sour disposition. :) See you Friday.

Great place for fried catfish, boiled shrimp and boiled crawfish. The "Shack Steak" is very good too. Plus they have some of the most amazing and delicious cakes and pies you've ever seen. The coconut cake is awesome and the meringue pies have the tallest meringue anywhere. Very affordable lunch specials.

Great food and great service! Something for everyone. You'll love it.

The gumbo and most other food is really tasty. The crawfish we're a bit on the bland side in terms of flavor and they cooled off too rapidly. They were of good size and quality but just very low probably 2-3 star in terms of flavor. The deserts are amazing. You have to try one of those if you go so leave some room or take one for the road. Burgers are pretty good. I think the prices seem to always be a bit more expensive than advertised. I hear a lot of deals on the radio too that seem to be unavailable when I go in to eat. I am usually charged a bit more than I would expect. This is a pretty nice place though and if you haven't tried it I do recommend giving it a try.

Pulled in parking lot with only one car in lot , decided to give this place a try and glad I did , good fried catfish and good dessert
